Hi Folks!
Outdoors gonna outdoor…
Spring is my second favorite season in Colorado. While Fall takes the top spot, I love seeing everything green up. From the yard to the mountain parks, the return of real warm and my morning coffee by the firepit while the birds play in the fountain is a solid happy place for me. It also leads to the inevitable chores. Last week was “refresh the mulch” time. I moved 8 yards of the stuff in a day and still came up a bit short. I think I overdid it – at least that’s what my back keeps telling me.

A few quick outings of note. So far I’ve gotten out to Cheyenne Mountain Zoo and Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs. This pic is from Roxborough State Park. The fountain valley trail is an old friend.
Matt’s Media:

The Ninth Gate (1999)
May’s pick is a longtime favorite – The Ninth Gate. More of an occult thriller or mystery than a horror film, I love the slow burn and deliberate pacing, and the film score absolutely makes the movie. It also has the Lovecraftian trope of the forbidden tome that once read, changes the reader’s life forever. At its heart, the story is also about finding freedom from restrictions imposed from within as well as without. It asks if you would die for that freedom. Would you kill for it?
Would you open The Ninth Gate?
Writing:

Shoggoth on the Run
Shoggoth – the second story in the Irving Tolliver case files – finished close to 11K words and is off to the Editor. With luck I’ll be able to handle any tweaks quickly and have that out by the end of June. I’m still on the fence for the cover, but here’s a potential sneak peek. Further spoilers will have to wait.
Ratings and Reviews:
You spending time in my worlds is the best part of my writer journey. Thank you!
For an Author – like coffee – reviews are the stuff of life. The more you have, the easier it is to sit down and write that next story. If liked one of my stories – please consider a Rating or review. Text reviews are the BEST, something as simple as “Great Read!” or “Enjoyed it!” Helps me find new readers.
If you aren’t the texty type – a quick click on those stars at the end of your read makes my day, and it lets potential new readers know the juice is worth the squeeze.
Featured Story:

Hollow Threats
With Shoggoth on the horizon, May’s feature is the first Irving Tolliver case file. Like a genre bash? The Tolliver series is Future-Noir Lovecraftian comedy…
Seven hundred years in the future – the stars are right. Followers of Cthulhu are calling out to the Great Old One, and it’s up to Private Detective Irving Tolliver to stop them.
Life on earth is one of enhanced virtual realities. Aliens and Robots are
just the next door neighbors, and dimensional travel is commonplace.
Irv just wanted a day to sleep in, but one really annoying messenger and a trail of missing relics has him hard on a case and, somehow, his girlfriend is at the center of it.
